Just a brief hello from this conference I am at in Groningen in the north of Holland. Lovely city although a little quiet. ISBL is this big gathering of biblical scholars and PhD research students - lots of papers, lots of networking, lots of books to browse. It's been really good so far. One day left and then back to Cliff on Wednesday afternoon.
Met some great people from the USA - good for me because I have this aversion to Yanks! Also a great Canadian or two! Ha! We went to this pub a couple of times called De Drie Gezusters - we were sat in the bar chatting, laughing and drinking Leffe Bier and people kept walking past and disappearing into the back of the bar. Eventually we decided to go and investigate - apparently there are actually 24 bars all interconnected - upstairs, downstairs, in other buildings. People wander from one to the other and they are all so cool! Lots of leather armchairs and historical memorabilia and so on. Great, great place.
Anyway, better get back - lunch in the students union beckons. I am sat at an open access computer in the library - half an hour for one euro. Excellent value!
Take care and if you get the chance, come to Groningen!
